MitSna's MOT 2019: Streamlining Education for the Youth held on 14th of September, 2019 at GM Hall is a Massive Open Talk show organised MitSna, a non profit student based group. Speaker: MPS Thounaojam Brinda, Addl. Brinda talks about the importance of the role of the generation of youths today which are going to be the future pillars of the society. She express her desire of wanting some change in the education system which would not stereotype the students into aiming only for those corporate jobs or government jobs. She emphasizes on the need for improving the agricultural sector. She talks about the new agricultural technique of Permaculture which she says she will soon introduce a model farm here in Manipur. Brinda also talks about the case of drug abuse, plantation of poppy plants in Manipur and how drugs aim for the destruction of youths. She also expresses her desire of creating a workforce, and insist that the youths should not wait around and cry for jobs but create one themselves. But there lies a vicious cycle which leads us to being slaves, depending on others because of our incapability to produce any indigenous products. Hence we the youths should really think for the future, what kind of Manipur we want to leave behind for the future generations to inherit. The Massive Open Talk envisioned as MitSna’s MOT is being organized with the vision to not only increase the employability of our youth, but also create a generation of employers and young entrepreneurs and over and ability above instill in them a sense of commitment to the society. Eminent Social Scientist Oja Dhanabir Laishram; Pooja Elangbam, ADC-IW, IAS; Thounaojam Brinda, ASP-NAB, MPS; Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, Professor of Chemistry & Dean, MU; Renedy Singh, Former Indian Football Captain; Roshnikumar Yambem, Founder, Globizs and Dr.Pibarel Meetei, Founder, Medilane spoke at the event. The event aimed to bring to light the following issues:- •The rigid and the outdated education system in the state and the need to adapt to the changing pace of technology. •The need to de-stigmatize nonacademic education and reinstate vocational training,sports, art, music and drama. •The issue of ‘Education for the sake of education’. •Institutionalization of institutions in Manipur turning education into a commodity.
