The Reddest Clay I've Ever Seen
This week I'm starting a new round of pottery experimentation! If you recall the bowls I made with bronze filings recently, this is the continuation of that, or at least, the first small steps. I'm using a new, coarse red stoneware clay body in conjunction with a new crimson glaze, to hopefully create a more subtle effect. For this test I'll be throwing and trimming five simple angular vase forms. Sorry for the tease... I'll make a video with the results soon! 💌 • Sign up to my newsletter here: https://www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter Bronze kindly gifted by: 🔨 • https://www.alexpoleironwork.com ⛓ •   / alexpoleironwork  📖 • ORDER MY BOOK: https://geni.us/bymyhands 🏺 • You may also be interested in my 'A Beginner's Guide' series, which you can find here:    • How to Throw a Pot — A Beginner's Guide  Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction, talking about my plans 0:50 - The new clay I'll be using 1:51 - Mixing the body with ES80, 50/50 4:17 - Throwing the vases 5:59 - Positioning my throwing gauge 9:09 - Trimming the red vases 13:58 - Turning the foot-well 14:33 - Talking about the HPL batts 15:09 - Clean up • Find out much more via the link below! https://linktr.ee/floriangadsby • Get in touch here: https://www.floriangadsby.com/contact Sign up to my newsletter here: https://www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter
