Bocca Serriola is a very famous mountain pass, much loved by the bikers of Marche and Umbria, who take advantage of every free moment and sun to be able to make the curves that separate Apecchio, in the Marche, and Città di Castello. It is a pass in the Central Apennines, which divides the Biscubio Valley from the Tiber Valley. The pass is already in Umbria, a few kilometers from the border between the province of Perugia and the province of Pesaro and Urbino, thus dividing the two regions of Central Italy. Do you know what the name Bocca Serriola comes from, which we can also find with a single R (Bocca Seriola as on the sign at the top of the pass)? It seems to derive from the Latin “serrula-ae” (saw): the Romans used to use the wood of this area, which they then sent to the capital via the Tiber.
