2025 Salute Shell Comparison

Finally completed this video. What started as 55 shells only ended up being 47. 2 of which ended up being color so the final amount tested ended up being 45 shells. This video didn't go as planned but I still felt obligated to upload it. I ended up not going back to the shoot site for the last few shells since it is quite a drive and for only 10 minutes of footage didn't seem worth it to me. I also didn't want to risk getting kicked out again and/or getting a fine/ticket. I didn't want to bring any unnecessary attention to the site and potentially ruin it for others. Generally speaking, there is a noticeable difference in noise level between 4" vs 5" shells. A little less of a difference from 5" to 6" but still a noticeable difference. 8" shells are definitely the loudest, as they should, but cost more since it is more cardboard. If you can afford any of them you wont be disappointed. The decibel meter I had did not really reflect this which is one of the reasons why this video didn't really go as planned. In my opinion, if you're incorporating salutes into a show, most people will not notice a difference. Loud is loud to most casual firework watchers. Only pyro's will notice really. Any 5" shell is perfectly fine. KAG and Lightsabers are a good value since they come 4/24 wholesale so those would be my recommendations. Most 5" shells are very close in loudness so whatever is cheaper is generally the safest bet. That being said, if you can afford 6"-8" shells those will generally be louder. GB, yaga and green lantern are probably the heaviest 6" shells that I know of so those will be the loudest. 8" shells are the loudest, but at a cost. If you can get them for wholesale they're more palatable, but $300+ a pack at the reservation, probably not.
