TN Valley Railroad - Hiwassee Loop/Copperhill Train Accident

While riding the rails on October 12, 2018 through the Hiwassee River Gorge we experienced an accident. The train is operated by the Tennessee Railroad Museum in Etowah TN. The trip was understandably cut short. We made it approximately 17 miles to where the small landslide occurred near the 357 mile marker. We were looking forward to the entire trip to Copper Hill. Our GMTX/GATX #2004 locomotive took some damage along with the first railcar. It was disappointing but we all realize things happen. All the more reason to come back again! The views we did experience were amazing. The railroad staff was courteous and apologetic. They did well clearing the mess and getting us back safely.
