BOPT

The BOPT (Biologically Oriented Preparation Technique) has been widely used and taught recently, but what are the advantages and limitations of this preparation technique? In this video, we analyze the biologically oriented preparation technique developed by the Italian Ignazio Loi. We will go through the entire clinical step-by-step process: from diagnostic waxing, probing, vertical finish, gingitage (sulcus de-epithelialization) to the correct relining of the provisional restoration for gingival maturation. I present two criticisms of BOPT that, in a way, contradict current adhesion concepts. We will also discuss a technique that aims for more predictable adhesive cementation for these types of preparations.
