The first is to heroically defend the Imperium and humanity. The second is to cast aside outworn dogmas like a snake shedding its skin and channel the talents they've acquired into personal pursuits. For example, to build their own state. Or perhaps to engage in piracy, slave trading, or the pursuit of the forbidden. Or, ultimately, to surrender to Chaos in all its myriad forms and currents. Cases where a Chapter manages to combine all of these philosophies are exceedingly rare. The Soul Drinkers are an anomaly even by the standards of the insane Warhammer universe, and at the same time, they are simply another group of deluded individuals thrown into the millstones of fate.
