Super Typhoon #IndayPH: 12 areas under Signal No. 1

Weather update (July 8, 11 a.m.): More areas have been placed under wind signal no. 1 as super typhoon Inday slightly intensifies. It now packs winds of 195 kph with gusts up to 240 kph. Wind signal no. 1 is raised in • Batanes • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands • Isabela • northeastern Quirino • Apayao • Kalinga • eastern Mountain Province • eastern Ifugao • northern Abra • Ilocos Norte • northern Aurora • northern and central Catanduanes At 10 a.m. Wednesday, super typhoon #IndayPH was located 1,270 km east of Northern Luzon. It is moving west northwestward at 20 kph. It may weaken into a typhoon on Thursday evening and will then move northwestward until its PAR exit on Saturday, July 11. Inday remains unlikely to make landfall over Philippine landmass but will pass close to Batanes on Friday, June 10. Signal no. 2 or 3 could be the highest wind warning to be raised during Inday’s passage. The typhoon will enhance the Habagat and bring gusty winds and rains across many parts of the country from Thursday.
