I Replaced My Smoke Alarms with Matter... Here's What Happened
Smoke alarms aren't the most exciting smart home product, but they might be one of the most useful. In this video I take a look at the Sensereo MSC-1 and MS-1, two Matter over Thread smoke alarms designed to work with Home Assistant, Apple Home, SmartThings and other Matter ecosystems. Rather than just covering the specifications, I installed them into my own smart home and tested what they're actually like to live with. I cover: • Unboxing and build quality • Matter over Thread setup • Home Assistant integration • Available entities • Real-world automations • Smoke and carbon monoxide notifications • Weekly self-testing • Reliability • Battery design • Whether they're worth buying Sensereo sent these units out for review, but they had no input into this video and all opinions are entirely my own. If you have any questions about these alarms or you've already started using them, let me know in the comment. #smarthome #homeassistant #matter #thread #smokedetector #carbonmonoxide #automation Smoke Alarm MS-1 https://sensereo.com/product/ms-1/ MSC-1 Smoke & CO Alarm https://sensereo.com/msc-1/ Chapters 00:00 Intro 01:40 Unboxing 03:24 Installation 04:16 Matter Setup 06:38 MSC-1 vs MS-1 07:32 Things I Like 07:55 Home Assistant Integration 09:02 Real Automations I Actually Use 10:00 Reliability & Battery Life 11:13 Compliance 13:25 Are They Worth Buying? 15:05 Final Thoughts
