Mango Leaf Hopper Management in Orchard |Best strategies to control leaf hoppers in mango orchard

In this video, I will briefly explain all the strategies to manage leaf hopper pest in mango orchards. Leaf Hopper is a sucking pest which sucks sap from leaves, flowers and twigs. It weakens the flowers and fruits, ultimately shedding occurs. Mango leaf hopper appears in mango orchard in February, March and April. It again appears or attacks in orchard in August, September and October. In winter months such as in November, December and in hot months such as in May June, it hides himself in bark of trees stem. Management strategies; 1) Removal of malformed inflorescence (Batoor) 2) Pruning of branches 3) Chemical spray Best spray time is December or June when it is found in bark of tree stem. Spray only on stem may give good results. Second best time for spray is before appearance of inflorescence. As after flowering, chemical spray may harm beneficial insects or pollinators. Chemical control; Dinotefuron @ 50 gram per 100 liters of water. Chlothinaden @ 100 ml per 100 liters of water. Imidacloprid @ 100 ml per 100 liters of water. #mangoleafhopper #mangopest
