Feel like I’m ready, Like I finally figured it out, Way up high above the clouds, In the deep blue that surrounds. I’m forgetting All that gravity below Ready, set, and let it go ‘Cuz I can go as far as my heart will let me. But now it’s time for my test, I feel that pound in my chest, I countdown in my head as I tighten my vest. It seems insane to want to jump out of this plane, Raise my hands to the sun— 4…3…2…1… Jump. Never felt so alive, Falling free through the sky—I’m diving, Down through a cumulus—I’m gliding, So luminous, all shining. Feeling lost in the moment, all alone but full of hope, Now my joy is overflowing and… I pull the ripcord— But the parachute didn’t open… (What the!?) It’s the last minute. Why does it take me so long to Finally be in it And it’s been a nice visit, But I really gotta go now ’Cause it’s the last minute. Dammit, this is not how I planned it. Lost focus, caught red-handed, Dance with reckless abandon and in In sixty seconds, I’ll crash into the planet. And now my life flashes before my eyes, While tumbling through the skies, All these regrets that I realize. I should have just slowed down, Should have been living life in the present. I wish I had paid more attention, Hugged my love and called my parents. I should have been a better dad, Could have been a better man. But what I didn’t understand Is I was caught and tied in my own deadlines, Trapped inside my plans. Oh, it’s the last minute— And I finally need to own it. It’s what always brings me home and Back to this present moment. If I had another chance, I promise I would learn something from the past— I would take this appreciation, Love every minute like it was my last. And the the parachute suddenly opened… And I drifted down Back to solid ground— But it’s different now… It’s the last minute.
