Stanier Power | Jubilee's at work on the Mainline 2021

Of a class that once numbered 191 locomotives, only four LMS 'Jubilee' Class locomotives have survived into preservation. Though this year has seen some of the survivors at their arguable best, at the helm of a variety of excursions. The class has gained a reputation for themselves in preservation, as reliable mainline performers, with thanks to their frequent but welcome appearences on railtours across the country. This year, the cameras have been lucky enough to capture all three of the currently serviceable locomotives in action on the mainlines of Britain, and in three different regions. 45596 "Bahamas" has had a busy railtour programme this year, being captured in the south - including on Southern Region territory - on multiple occasions. On its home turf of the Midland Region, 45699 "Galatea" has made frequent appearances on the Settle and Carlisle Railway, slogging away under the guise of 45627 "Sierra Leone". Meanwhile, 45690 "Leander" made a rare sight on the Western Region, battling the Devon banks, when it was called upon to haul the final two runnings of 'The Royal Duchy' for the year.
