CYFO Why Satellite Orbits Look Like Waves on Maps

Can you figure out (CYFO) why satellite orbits look like sine waves on maps? I help you try to figure it out for yourself and then explain it all. A written explanation is that they do follow that 'sine wave' shown on the 2 dimensional maps, but it only looks like a wave on a flat map, if you roll the map around on itself (and could properly squeeze the ends of the tube so it turns into an accurate globe) the sine wave in 2D is a circle in 3D and the circle it's tracing around the globe is inclined relative to the equator.
