Today we'll take a closer look at one of my favorite carpentry joints: the dovetail tenon. Wood is always most beautiful when we leave it visible. However, this often leads to the problem that joist hangers and angle brackets aren't really an option. There are now numerous expensive solutions in the field of engineering joints, but that doesn't have to be the case :) The dovetail tenon is a classic wood joint that's so popular that there are now even a few machines that simplify its creation...but that's not necessarily the case; simple hand tools serve the purpose just as well.
