Sketching Sea Pinks by the Coast | Calm Nature Art

Come with me to sketch sea pinks by the coast before they disappear for the season. I headed out to Portland Bill in Dorset on a quiet little mission — to find and sketch the beautiful sea pink flowers before they disappear for the season. In this video, I take you along on a gentle sketchbook walk, exploring a peaceful section of the coastline, and spending a little time observing and capturing these delicate flowers in simple, imperfect sketches. For me, sketching outdoors isn’t about creating something perfect, it’s about slowing down, noticing the small details in nature, and gathering little visual notes that can later find their way into my illustrations. If you’d like to try something similar, you’re very welcome to sketch along with me using whatever materials you have to hand - even just a pencil and paper is perfect. Because sometimes, taking a few quiet minutes to sit with nature and create something simple can feel incredibly grounding… like a little reset for the mind.
