Hawaii has always been paradise… but for surfers, it provides one of the best training grounds. The North Shore is one of the most beautiful places on earth — warm water, perfect reefs, and world-class waves wrapping down the coastline of Oahu. But it’s also a place that exposes you. Every weakness. Every hesitation. Every technical flaw. For me, Hawaii hasn’t always been comfortable. Over the years it’s tested parts of my surfing that needed serious work. The power, the positioning, the commitment — if you’re not sharp here, you’ll know about it. This trip felt different. After putting in focused work with my coach, Leandro Dora, who travels with me on the World Surf League World Tour , I’ve made big improvements in the very areas that used to hold me back.
