𝗖𝗦𝗔 - 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗜𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗬 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗡𝗧𝗬𝗔𝗭𝗢, 𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗔

The CSA Smart Irrigation Technology for Sustainable Agriculture Project is being implemented in Ntyazo Sector, Nyanza District, Rwanda, to help coffee farmers adapt to climate change, improve productivity, and build sustainable livelihoods. The project addresses challenges such as water scarcity, irregular rainfall, and dependence on manual irrigation methods, with a particular focus on empowering women and young people through climate-smart agriculture, entrepreneurship, and access to finance through VSLA groups. At the heart of the project is a 100% solar-powered smart irrigation system designed to efficiently pump and distribute water to a Demonstration and Learning Centre for sustainable coffee farming. Significant progress has already been made, including the construction of a water storage dam, water tank house, water channels, and pipelines, while a coffee nursery has been established to support the distribution of 10,000 coffee seedlings to encourage youth participation in coffee production. The project targets 200 participants, with 70% youth and 90% women, demonstrating how innovation, knowledge sharing, and community collaboration can strengthen resilience and create sustainable economic opportunities in Rwanda's coffee sector.
