On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the South Kalimantan Regional Police were shocked by the stabbing of a member of the Awayan Police Station, Balangan Police, by an individual identified as NY (25 years old), a resident of Kambiayin Village, RT. 01, Tebing Tinggi District, Balangan Regency. The incident began when the perpetrator, NY, was taken by his family to the Awayan Police Station for the stabbing of a neighbor. Upon arriving at the Awayan Police Station to be taken into police custody, the perpetrator's family immediately left the police station. As the perpetrator was about to be taken into custody, he suddenly pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked one of the police officers. After slashing the perpetrator with his sharp weapon, he fled into the forest. The victim (a member of the Awayan Police Station), who suffered three slash wounds to the head, was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Following this incident, the South Kalimantan Tiger Joint Team, the Balangan Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Awayan Sector Police's Criminal Investigation Unit immediately pursued and searched the perpetrator in the forest. Witnesses stated that after fleeing into the forest, the perpetrator stole a motorcycle belonging to a local resident and headed to Banyu Panas Village, Batu Tangga Subdistrict, East Batang Alay District. While the team was searching Banyu Panas Village, the perpetrator fled back into the forest, abandoning the previously stolen motorcycle. The joint team then approached residents and the perpetrator's family for information and assistance in apprehending him. The perpetrator was apprehended at his parents' home in Kambiayin Village, RT. 01, Tebing Tinggi Subdistrict, Balangan Regency. A machete and a kumpang belonging to the perpetrator were also seized. The perpetrator, along with the evidence, were taken to the Balangan Police Department for further investigation and processing.
