And in Part 2, I review the proposals received and the result will SHOCK YOU. Overall... 1) Most (90%+) of freelancers use AI for their cover letters. 2) The majority applied within 15 minutes of the job post EVEN though the time difference was 13 hours (afternoon for me; 4AM in the morning for them). BUT being first to apply is actually NOT AN ADVANTAGE! Here is what IS AN ADVANTAGE... 1) Clients can use UMA to filter out candidates. So if a job has more than 10 people, expect them to use UMA in the selection process. 2) UMA focuses on the BEST MATCH candidates. So if you are applying to a job with LOTS of invites and your not a Best Match, then chances are low of getting selected (but NOT impossible). 3) UMA uses both your profile AND THE PROPOSAL for making recommendations. The details in your Proposal matter a lot!! 4) Being selected for Best Match correlates with your Job Success Score and the quoted rate. CONCLUSION UMA for Clients is changing the game and a lot of the old "rules" don't apply. 1) Automatically sending proposals is a WASTE of Connects. As long as you apply within 24 hours you have a good shot. 2) Best Match matters to UMA (today). It has a strong bias to just focus on Best Match candidates. 3) The Best Match alogythm is NOT great and has a bias toward JSS and your quoted hourly rate on the job.
