Why Those Who Reject Christ Are Not Israel

Israel is not a nation-state. Israel is the Body of Christ. Many claim to be God’s chosen people—children of Abraham, heirs of the covenant, keepers of the promise. But Christ makes it clear: not all who descend from Israel belong to Israel. In this homily, we confront the uncomfortable truth revealed in Matthew 8—the Roman centurion, a Gentile with no religious pedigree, possessed greater faith than anyone in Israel. Why? Because he recognized Christ. He believed. This is the dividing line. You will hear why faith in Jesus Christ is the only doorway into the people of God. Why lineage, heritage, or self-identification mean nothing without the Son. And why Orthodox Christians are the true Israel, not by replacement, but by fulfillment—grafted into the living vine through worship, obedience, and love for the crucified Messiah. If you reject the Son, you reject the Father. If you reject the Church, you reject the covenant. This is not about ethnicity. This is about eternity.
