RAF Coiltishall Heritage Centre Official Opening
RAF Station Coltishall entered operational service during the second world war on the 23rd June 1940 and sadly, the station closed on the 30th November 2006. Since then, the heritage trust has been feverishly working away to establish the centre to help celebrate it's 66 years of active service to our country. The heritage trust team have done amazing work to secure and make available a multitude of exhibits documenting the history of what was a much loved RAF Station. The heritage centre was officially opened on the 23rd June 2021, the exact same day 81 years after the RAF Station entered service during the war. The opening ceremony was also treated to a flypast of a spitfire and hurricane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The heritage centre is located on the former RAF Station and occupies the old guard room at the main entrance. It is open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm until October. There is no admission fee, but a donation to the RAF Station Coltishall Heritage Trust would be welcomed.
