'Never call me 'mum!' Those were the words of my mother after she found a new husband!

Wanja remembers her childhood so vividly. Her mother re-married when she was about six years. Her very own mother denied her a chance to go to school and instead turned her into a slave working for her elder step sisters. At her age, she would cook, clean and take food to her step sisters in school. As if that was not enough, her mum forbid her from ever calling her 'mum' and instead ordered her to be referring to her as 'aunt.'
