Sharing the history of Grupo Rana, which began in 1974 in Tecpán, Chimaltenango, Guatemala, from the land of eternal spring. This musical group specializes in the genres of merengue and salsa, and has been on the musical path for fifty years. The band was founded by brothers Marco Tulio and Ovidio Girón, Ovidio being a distinguished musicologist, a profession that few manage to practice with such talent and professionalism. Also, let me tell you that since they were children, they were trained in music by their father, Don Chepe Girón, who had his own orchestra, made up of six members, including Eduardo Carrillo, Armando Rodríguez, Otoniel Ramos, and Humberto De León. However, not all of the group's members were professional musicians at first. Given the conditions and desire to join the group, Ovidio and his brother Marco Tulio took it upon themselves to turn them into professionals. The Girón family had seven children, all musicians, but today only three of them are still active in music; the others have passed away.
