TRIBUNMATARAMAN.COM - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor demanded that the panel of judges sentence the inactive Ponorogo Regent, Sugiri Sancoko, to seven years in prison and a fine of Rp 300 million during a sentencing hearing in the Cakra Courtroom at the Surabaya Corruption Court on Tuesday (July 14, 2026). The KPK prosecutor found Sugiri Sancoko legally and convincingly guilty of bribery and gratuities during his tenure as regional head from 2021 to 2025. One of the KPK prosecutors, Arjuna Budi Tambunan, stated that Sugiri Sancoko was legally and convincingly proven guilty of continuously participating in the crime of corruption, namely accepting bribes. Arjuna added that the fine must be paid within one month and can be extended for a maximum of one month from the date the verdict becomes legally binding. If the fine is not paid by the specified deadline, the convict's assets or income will be confiscated and auctioned to pay off the unpaid fine. If the auction of assets or income is insufficient or impossible to cover the unpaid fine, it will be replaced with a 100-day prison sentence. "This is as regulated and punishable by law in Article 12 letters a and b," said KPK prosecutor Arjuna Budi Tambunan when reading the indictment. In addition, Sugiri Sancoko was ordered to pay Rp6.78 billion in restitution. This amount is based on Sugiri's receipt of Rp900 million in gifts from Yunus Mahatma, Rp950 million from Sucipto, and Rp4.9 billion. "And committing several crimes that must be considered separate crimes, namely accepting gratuities," as regulated and punishable by law in Article 12B," he concluded.
