when i touch you | emma & knightley

ᘛ it's such a feeling that, my love, i can't hide. emma, by jane austen, has been my favorite book for quite sometime. i love how flawed emma is, inspite of people thinking her perfect. i love how mr. knightley seems to be the only one to actually see her flaws and not only point them out, but *fall for them too*. i love the secrecy of jane fairfax and mr churchill's relation, i love stingy mr elton and emma and harriet's blindness to it. i love the complex and, in the end, extremely funny relations within the entire book. autumn de wilde's adaptation may not be perfect or the best (i think the one from 2008 still holds the title), but it has a unique look into emma and mr knightley's relationship, deep in yearning and tension in a way no one ever did; emma may not know she's in love with him until harriet confess her own feelings (that's when she truly knows it in the book), but we can see her experiencing all the feelings related to that love from much earlier. harriet and emma's friendship is the other high point from this movie. i've never seen one adaptation that showed emma caring so deeply about harriet and how important it is for her that her friend is happy. that she is her friend inspite of birth and marriage and that she wasn't something only for her boredom (at least by the end). they seemed almost in love and that's a layer that i'm not mad about at their relation. when i watched that movie, i realized that emma and knightley's relation is basically best friends to lovers and,,,, i'm such a sucker for that trope and i didn't even realize my favorite book had it,,,, we blind. anyway, behaving like anyone cares about that part or about this channel that much, i've officially changed the channel's name from miss song to *magiiicath*. i thought it might be bad for business, but who am i fooling, there's no business in this case. ᘛ hope y'all enjoy it xx ᘛ L I N K S twitter:   / magiiicath   tumblr:   / magiiicath   ᘛ C R E D I T S movie: emma.
