DURAZNO (1) - URUGUAY 🇺🇾 (+ info y nuestra experiencia)

🌿 Durazno – Uruguay | City, River & International Folklore Festival (Part 1) We made our way to the heart of Uruguay. We came to Durazno. Right in the center of the country, this small capital city blends history, tradition, nature, and one of the most important cultural events in Uruguay’s interior. And this is only the beginning. In this first episode, we explore the city through a truly personal lens — because yes, this is Raúl’s hometown. That means every corner holds a story, every square carries a memory, and every street has something meaningful to share. We wander through its traditional plazas — Independencia, Sarandí, Artigas, and Rodó — stroll along tree-lined avenues that turn shades of orange in autumn, discover new public spaces like playgrounds and sports complexes, and visit the historic railway bridge, declared a National Historic Monument, standing gracefully between past and present. We also spend time at one of the locals’ favorite spots: Camping 33 Orientales, on the banks of the Yí River. El Sausal Beach, the dam, cicadas singing in summer, the scent of native woodland, mate shared in the shade, a relaxed asado with friends… simple scenes that capture the true spirit of Uruguay’s countryside. And as the sun began to set, one of the most anticipated moments arrived: the 52nd edition of the Festival Internacional de Folclore de Durazno. A massive, free folk celebration that draws thousands of people every year. In this first part, we experience the build-up, attend the press conference, and begin to feel the energy of a night that promised to be unforgettable. Durazno is tradition. It’s river life. It’s connection. It’s coming home. 🧉 Grab your thermos and your mate — we’re just getting started. 👉 In Part 2, we dive fully into the festival and everything still waiting to be discovered.
