CONSEGUI ME LIVRAR DA VIOLÊNCIA DOMÉSTICA | Histórias de ter.a.pia #202
A victim of domestic violence for many years, Silvana was only able to leave the relationship when her ex-partner threw a frying pan of hot oil at her. With nothing in her hands and accompanied by her dog, she left home and rebuilt her life in the basement where she had lived for many years. Silvana married young, at 20, and from the beginning of the relationship, her ex-husband had a drinking problem and was physically, sexually, and verbally abusive. She lived a ten-year life of hell on earth until one day she realized she needed to put herself first, and this happened in a very difficult way. When her ex-partner threw a frying pan of hot oil at her, Silvana ducked to protect her dog, who was at her feet, and not herself. At that moment, she understood once and for all that she had never prioritized herself. But there, she broke a cycle of pain and suffering. With only her dog in her arms, she set out in search of freedom, and it was in a basement that she found it. The basement had no windows, it was just a dark, lifeless room, but Silvana made it her home for many, many years. For her, it wasn't her rock bottom, but the springboard that propelled her to where she was today. Still in the basement and with great willpower, she returned to work in tourism for seniors, a segment that led her to discover her calling. It was in this basement that she also began to gain notoriety in her hometown of Petrópolis. Silvana became president of the local forum, an active voice in the fight for seniors' rights, and also a local radio host. Little by little, bringing so much love and care wherever she went and receiving it in return, she began to truly understand that she deserved love too. The love she gave to others healed her from the physical and emotional wounds of years of domestic violence. Today, Silvana takes the story of the basement wherever she goes, to help other women who have also experienced or are experiencing similar situations. Welcoming other women was how she found a way to cope with all the pain of her past. If you experience or know someone experiencing domestic violence, report it! Call 180!
