Solo Backpacking Cuyahoga Valley National Park Pt.1

Welcome back everyone! This trip was a first for me in terms of backpacking. I have hiked many miles of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park over the years but I have never actually backpacked it. There are a few reasons for this, mainly because there isn't an actual backpacking route or any designated backpacking sites within the park itself. CVNP does connect to the Cleveland Metro Parks and there is a backcountry site called Ottawa Point that you are able to reserve. The downside is the park only allows you to park a vehicle at one specific parking lot. This wasn't acceptable to me so I decided to craft my own backpacking adventure! I ended up getting dropped off at Brandywine Falls and hiked 12 miles to the campsite at Ottawa point. Along the way we got to check out some awesome waterfalls, great views and plenty of wildlife! I also set out with the goal of covering the most mileage I've ever covered in a 24 hour period while backpacking. My AllTrails app said the route I created was 26.2 miles aka a full marathon. I decided my goal was to complete all 26.2 miles within 24 hours! Stick around and watch to see if I made it! I ended up getting as close to being an ultralight backpacker as I've ever been. My base weight for this trip was only about 12.5 lbs and with two liters of water and 24 hours of food my pack weighed in at 19.5 lbs for the trip. I have a few more gear adjustments to make and I'll have an 11 lbs base weight which is pretty good because I carry a Helinox Chair Zero as my luxury item! As always I thank you all so much for the views, likes comments and subs, you're all the best!
