Ancient and Byzantine maqams and one Rebetiko from 1933

I dedicate this recording to my muse✨️🔥 The ancient trigonon was a musical instrument of the Aegean Sea dating back to 3000 BC. Another name for it is the psalterion. Many of us in modern Greece, where our existence is becoming increasingly difficult, dedicate a great deal of time from our short lives to studying, in order to highlight and revive the ancient sound of our ancestors through instruments such as the aulos, the ancient lyre, and all these remarkable elements, as much as we can. Folk songs, Byzantine hymns (even though their lyrics praise Israel and condemn our great Greek philosophers as idolaters)and rebetiko music are the continuation of Greek musical tradition through the passage of the centuries. In the hagiography you see the sister of Alexander the Great - Thessaloniki - in the Byzantine church of Saint Demetrius in Aigai. A few meters away is her tomb. Thanks all my friends for your love ❤️ Stefanos 24 April 2026
