Written at the close of World War II, Caucasian Chalk Circle tells the story of a young maid, Grusha, who takes a daring chance when, in the chaos of an emerging war, she saves the child heir of Grusinia. About the presenter: Noah Marcus is an actor, dramaturg, and PhD Candidate in Northwestern’s Interdisciplinary PhD in Theatre and Drama program, where he studies Jewish theatre and the performance of Jewish identity, and lectures on a range of topics under the umbrella of theatre history and theory. Originally from Canada, he previously earned both his BA in Theatre and his MA in Theatre Theory and Dramaturgy from the University of Ottawa. A frequent collaborator with the Wirtz Center, this is Noah’s fourth time serving as a dramaturg for one of their shows.
