4-H Dog Agility Trophy (Level 6) Example

The 4-H Dog Show at the Lancaster County Super Fair includes Dog Agility. The highest level (level 6) is also known as 4-H Trophy Agility. At the 2022 Super Fair, Emmi Dearmont and her dog, Henry, reached a level few youth/dog pairs achieve: 4-H Trophy agility. At this level, a dog runs 18-20 obstacles off-leash, including bar jumps, tunnel, teeter totter, weave poles, etc. Emmi says, “I have been doing agility with my Dachshund, Henry, for 10 years now. This year, Henry is 13 years old and with old age, he has grown to have a mind of his own. He has a tendency to go off course and pick his own obstacles to do rather than the set course. Having this issue with Henry, I have learned to remain positive throughout our entire run, encouraging and praising him to redirect him on path. I’ve learned that my encouragement helps him to perform better rather than becoming frustrated with him. The audience always adores Henry because of how much he enjoys running through the course. Agility is a team effort and I can apply the skills I have learned over the years into all my relationships with my friends, family and work.”
