Tunisians are set to elect a new president on October 6th, but the arrest and disqualification of several political opponents of incumbent President Kais Saied have sparked concerns about the legitimacy of the election. In recent years, and especially over the past weeks, Saied has consolidated his hold on power, raising fears that the country could be heading towards its first undemocratic election since the Arab Spring.
