‘80 MGB Wiring Harness Replacement & TR7 Engine Updates

After the owner installed a new radio and USB port, this 1980 MGB decided to let the smoke out of its wiring harness. So we now have it in the shop to check out the condition of the dash harness to be sure there isn’t melted wiring there and to definitely replace the main harness. We’ll walk you through fishing out the old harness if you don’t want to just cut it and pull it out so you can hang on to just in case you need bits and pieces later. Then we also discuss the differences in the wiring diagrams available in both the Haynes and Bentley manuals and which ones are better to use when replacing your harness. As a bonus, the teenager who owns the red ‘71 MGBGT has his low mileage ‘79 TR7 in the shop to take a look at a coolant and an oil leak and also to swap the Weber carbs back to the original Strombergs.
