Sometimes it is identified with a religion, sometimes with the policies of a state, and sometimes with global conspiracy narratives. This documentary aims to place the concept of Zionism within its historical context, separating it from slogans and ideological debates. The rise of nationalism in 19th-century Europe, modern forms of antisemitism, the emergence of nation-states, and the identity crises experienced by Jewish communities in Europe… Modern Zionism was born within this complex historical process. In the documentary, we seek answers to the following questions: • What is Zionism and how did it emerge? • What are the historical and religious origins of the concept of "Zion"? • Who was Theodor Herzl and how did he shape modern Zionism? • How did the Dreyfus Affair and antisemitism in Europe affect this ideology? • How did the Ottoman period and migration policies develop in Palestine? • How is the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 discussed in historical writing?
