Natural Dyes at Home: Fresh Indigo Extraction (Online Demonstration)
Join An in her home garden and workshop to see her harvest and prepare a fresh leaf extraction of Japanese Indigo (Persicaria tinctoria). You can use just a small amount of fresh leaves to dye your fiber. The color from a fresh leaf indigo extraction is a remarkable shade of aqua blue, unlike the traditional deep blues that come from an indigo vat. This beautiful plant makes an excellent addition to any home garden. This program was recorded on Friday, September 16, 2022. Find upcoming programs at www.USBG.gov/Programs
