History of the Bay: Woodie

Coming from the small East Bay town of Antioch, Woodie launched East Co-Co Records and a successful independent rap career. Although his music is sometimes overshadowed by his gang affiliation, Woodie was well-respected as a rapper, producer, and hustler who put his friends on and launched several careers. Best known for the "Northern Expozure" compilation series, he managed to use music as a way to escape the gang life that had brought down so many of his close friends. Tragically, Woodie died in 2007 under mysterious circumstances but his legacy lives on.
