Keine Eier, Kein Fleisch, Kein Spass: Bevormundung oder sinnvolle Empfehlungen für die Gesundheit?
Are we eating the wrong foods? The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recently revised its recommendations, and this has brought with it a number of changes. But what do these changes mean for us, and do they make sense from a medical perspective? Let's take a look! 00:00 | Introduction 03:15 | The new recommendations for meat and dairy products 07:05 | We should avoid them altogether! 09:08 | DGE recommendations for fatty foods 12:00 | DGE recommendations 13:53 | Where do the recommendations come from? #dge #health #nutrition ⏩ Get informed first, then supplement: Feel free to take a look at my guides https://bit.ly/RatgeberHowTo ✅ ❎ 100% independent ❎ 100% study-based ❎ 100% medically accurate What is the DGE? The DGE (German Nutrition Society) is an independent German professional association for nutrition that issues nutritional recommendations. The DGE's food pyramid and 10 rules are particularly well-known. Their goal is to promote a healthy and wholesome diet to avoid obesity and nutrient deficiencies. Can we have a little less? Recommendations for meat and dairy products The new recommendations increasingly consider the impact of our diet on the environment. Therefore, a reduction in the consumption of meat and dairy products is recommended. The DGE now advises that about three-quarters of our food should come from plant-based sources and only one-quarter should be of animal origin. This should lead to a more conscious consumption of high-quality animal products and reduce the impact of factory farming. Fancy a sweet treat between meals? We should avoid it altogether! The DGE also recommends reducing sugar consumption, as it is associated with various health problems, including diabetes and cancer. The consumption of processed sugar and sugary drinks should therefore be minimized to reduce the risk of disease. Is fat healthy or not? DGE recommendations for fatty foods Recommendations regarding fat are divided. Healthy fats, such as those found in fish and nuts, are advocated, while saturated fats, such as those found in fast food, should be limited. Although healthy fats can support the immune system, fat remains high in calories and should therefore be consumed in moderation. What's left then? DGE recommendations The DGE emphasizes the importance of fruits and vegetables in the diet and recommends a higher consumption of plant-based foods. Whole grain products are preferred, while white flour products should be avoided. The goal is to promote health while reducing environmental pollution. Where do all these recommendations come from? The DGE recommendations are based on a new mathematical model that takes health, the environment, and eating habits into account. Cited studies: Study 1: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32977...
