The 7 Most Common Usher Responsibilities for a Wedding
In this video I’ll share how to be a great Usher and give you the 7 most common responsibilities of an usher. First you must attend the rehearsal because your job begins there. Here are some questions to ask: Are there sides that either family should sit on? Are the first or first few rows reserved for wedding party or parents or readers? Where are the restrooms? All of these will be asked on wedding day, know the answers and it's the start to being a great usher! Next, you'll need to know and do the 7 most common usher responsibilities: 1. Greet guests and escort them to their seats. Traditional etiquette says that when escorting a female guest, offer her your right arm. Ask her which side she’d prefer to sit on and then walk her down the aisle to her seat. For men, walk beside them and show them to their seat. If you are a female usher, you can choose either of these options. To seat a couple, traditions says to escort the female on your arm, and have the male follow behind you. You could also escort them on each side, or walk beside them as walk hand in hand and show them their seat. 2. Another common responsibility of Ushers is to hand each guest a program. If you are doing this, have a table nearby to place the programs so that your arms are free to escort guests. 3. If there is an aisle runner, ushers usually lay it. Aisle runners are rare these days, so I doubt you’ll do this, unless it’s a very formal wedding. 4. Just before the processional begins, Ushers see that late arrivals do not interrupt and instead wait outside or enter through another door. 5. Next Ushers may be asked to open the doors for the processional. If traditional, the doors will close before the bride processes and then open again for her grand entrance. The ushers then open the doors on the coordinators cue. 6. Ushers also manage guests who arrive after the processional and help the find a seat discretely. 7. In New Orleans, Ushers may also help with passing out handkerchiefs and go drinks for the second line parade if happening immediately after the ceremony. | Follow us on all our social media | Facebook | / theuncommoncamellia Instagram | / theuncommoncamellia Pinterest | / uncommoncamellia Blog | https://www.uncommoncamellia.com/blog Website | http://www.uncommoncamellia.com/ TikTok | @UncommonCamellia Contact us | [email protected] Song credit: Gabriel LeBreton, Pongel Ongel on YouTube, channel linked here: / @pongelongel4844 #howtobeanusheratawedding #weddingusher #weddingusherduties #weddingideas #weddinginspo #weddingplanning #weddingplanningtips #weddingphotographerquestions #weddingcoordinator #engaged #wedding #weddingtips #aboutwedding #diywedding #weddingplanner #diywedding #budgetwedding #weddingetiquette #weddingadvice #weddinghelp
