We've got time for a quick story. But it's not the usual chill energy, good vibes, warmy and fuzzy feeling kind of story. This one is dark... ... I know a woman who has a terrible sleep habit. Every night before bed she listens to a podcast called "Morbid" Every episode is a new story of a person who goes through some terribly horrific... absolutely revolting, stomach-turning life experience. Kidnapping, torture, mutilation... etc. Personally, I listen to stand-up comedy as I fall asleep. And my youngest child, who still sleeps in my bed, will often tell me in the morning... "Dad, you were sleep laughing again last night... what was so funny?" Anyway I've pleaded with this woman to change her bedtime routine and not fill her subconscious with trauma right before she goes to sleep... the time when your body is supposed to rest and heal. Well, it's also nearly impossible to get her to relax on the table. Every touch, poke and prod sends her muscles into spasm and causes her spine to jolt and jerk all around the table like a dead fish. You've heard the "lines" I use to get patients to relax before an adjustment. Nice and gentle follow the breath sink in... Now... One day I was adjusting this woman and she was more tense than usual. Something inside of me clicked... and I decided to try something different... So... gently.. and softly... I whispered in her ear... “Imagine it's the middle of the night. You slowly open your eyes and see a dark shadow above your bed. Gasping for air your mouth is taped shut before you can scream and your wrists are tied behind your back. OK deep breath in... you've been thrown in the trunk of a car you're tied so tight you can barely move your mouth is wrapped in plastic and you can barely breathe sink in and let go you wake up and you're in a bathtub covered in ice... (I felt the tension leave her body) CRACK!!! Seriously... the best adjustment I ever gave her... 3k
