Winter water system

A few friends have been wondering about how my water system works through the winter. Here is a basic video explanation on the process. The white barrel plugs come threaded with 1/2” pipe thread, the plugs then need to be drilled out to make an opening and fittings installed to connect the pipes. It was an easy project completed in a morning. Valves to shut off and drain the summer system were also installed. After retiring I boarded up and insulated the perimeter of the cottage to keep the cold out from under the cottage, it made a great difference in being able to heat the old place. It was then I realized that because it stayed much warmer that it was possible to run my water all winter, all I needed was a supply and a pump. This is what led me to this setup today.
