German drivers create lane for emergency vehicles responding to a major collision🚨

Drivers on a German motorway (The Autobahn) part traffic to create a perfect emergency corridor for rescue services to reach the scene of a major multi-vehicle pile-up outside of Mannheim. This video shows a variety of heavy rescue trucks, fire engines, ambulances, command vehicles and police cars using the free lane to get through. The process is known as the Rettungsgasse, or Rescue Alley, and it is the law in Germany to move over and create this extra lane for emergency services when traffic comes to a stand-still. While it doesn't always go to plan, drivers on the Bundesautobahn 61 (A61) were quick to react and create the rescue lane by moving to the far sides of their own lane - even before the first rescue vehicles came through. The incident was a multi-vehicle collision involving several trucks and trailers. A rescue helicopter transported a patient to hospital.
