Conferencia “1492: de Granada al Nuevo Mundo” Parte 1
In this lecture, entitled “1492: From Granada to the New World,” I explore one of the most pivotal years in world history. From the conquest of Granada to the voyage to the Americas, this episode marked the end of one era and the beginning of a completely new world. Throughout the lecture, I analyze how Spain, by closing a historical cycle on the Iberian Peninsula, opened another on the other side of the ocean. This encounter between cultures, ideas, beliefs, and civilizations gave rise to what is known as the New World and forever transformed the history of Europe and the Americas. This lecture took place in Granada, in a space steeped in history and symbolism. We extend our sincere thanks to the Hotel Alhambra Palace for their hospitality and for providing us with a unique setting, perfectly suited to a discussion about the birth of a new era.
