The Armor of God in Ephesians 6

What is the armor of God? The biggest challenge of Ephesians 6:10–20 is not understanding what its words mean, though there are a few verbal puzzles. Rather, our assignment is to decide how we understand our spiritual battle and how we will engage in it. These verses summarize much of what has been revealed in Ephesians while urging readers to be armed and ready for the struggle of Christian living. If we are to walk worthy of our calling, then we will necessarily wrestle against “the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (6:12). This fact could be intimidating except for the reassurance that God’s strength is available to us (6:10).
