There are two main superficial veins of the upper limb. 👉 Cephalic Vein Ascends in the superficial fascia on the lateral side of the biceps. On reaching the infraclavicular fossa, it drains into the axillary vein. 👉 Basilic Vein This vein ascends in the superficial fascia on the medial side of the biceps. Halfway up the arm, it pierces the deep fascia. After that, it joins the venae comitantes of the brachial artery to form the axillary vein. 👉 Median Cubital Vein It joins the above-mentioned veins together. As its name indicates, it is present at the level of cubital fossa. 👉 Median Vein of the Forearm The palmer venous plexus drains in the medial vein of the forearm, which ascends and joins the medial cubital vein. ▬ 📜 Lymphatics of the Upper Limb ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lymph from the upper limb drains into 3 groups of lymph nodes. 👉 Infraclavicular Group of Nodes Infraclavicular nodes, 1 or 2 in number, are located on the clavipectoral fascia along the cephalic vein. They drain lymph from the thumb consisting of its web and the upper part of the breast. 👉 Lateral Group of Axillary Nodes The superficial lymph vessels draining the superficial tissues of the upper arm pass upward to the axilla. Those from the medial side follow the basilic vein to the lateral group of axillary nodes. 👉 Supratrochlear Lymph Node Also known as the superficial cubital. These nodes lie just above the medial epicondyle along the basilic vein.
