EXPERIMENT 1 OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of media on lettuce growth and to find alternative media other than rockwool that are much cheaper but perform as well as rockwool to reduce the costs of hydroponic and aquaponic systems. TREATMENT: Comparing Media Rockwool Cocopiet Burnt Rice Husks In Experiment 1, WE WERE VERY SURPRISED BY THE RESULTS OF BURNT HUSK IN A SHADY LOCATION, because we didn't expect that burnt rice husks could be used this well as a seedling and growing medium. EXPERIMENT 2 OBJECTIVE: To determine the best way to sow curly lettuce, whether it needs to be placed in a shaded area and covered first, or can be placed directly in the open from the start.
