Experience the Magic: 4 Seasons on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route!

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (立山黒部アルペンルート) is a unique and spectacular journey through the Northern Japan Alps featuring various transportation options such as cable cars, electric buses, and a ropeway. It is a journey where you could see 4 season in just one day! The route's main attraction is the stunning views of the Tateyama Mountain Range. Visitors can experience different landscapes throughout the seasons. In autumn, vibrant fall colors peak around Murodo from late September to early October, gradually descending to lower elevations by late October to early November. This creates a beautiful contrast with green leaves at the foot of the mountain, the red autumn leaves in the middle, and the white snow at its peak. Our trip began at the Ogizawa bus terminal, where electric buses transport passengers through a tunnel to Kurobe Dam. Crossing the Kurobe dam will bring you to the Kurobeko station where a cable car will bring to the Kurobedaira Station. This station serves as the transfer point between the Tateyama Ropeway and Kurobe Cablecar, featuring a restaurant, souvenir shop, and stunning mountain views. It offers a unique combination of alpine snow, autumn foliage, and lush greenery. One of the highlights of our trip was the ropeway ride to Murodo. This cable car is one of the longest single-span ropeways in Japan, and it offers breathtaking views without any support poles blocking your sight. In just 20 minutes, we reached Murodo Station at an elevation of 2,450 meters. The landscape here was covered in complete white from a recent snowstorm.
