Nothing more. If we examine the anthropological rationale, it seems the term "Ngaji Filsafat" is simply based on the Javanese custom of using the term "Ngaji." Furthermore, using the term "Kuliah Filsafat" would seem to further burden the community. However, Fahruddin Faiz, the mentor, apparently had a hermeneutical reason behind his choice of the word "Ngaji," derived from the root word "Aji." "Aji" means "noble." "Ngaji" means "efforts to become noble" or "seeking glory." In Islamic terms, "Aji" is equivalent to the word "karamah." Therefore, according to Kiai Faiz, "Ngaji Filsafat" means "efforts to seek glory and become noble through philosophy." The first Philosophy Study Group was held on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
