Józef Oleksy nie żyje - Przegrał walkę z chorobą

Józef Oleksy has died. The deputy chairman of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) had been struggling with serious health issues for recent months. Along with Leszek Miller and Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Oleksy was one of the most important figures on the left. Besides the presidency, he held almost every major position in Poland. He was a former secretary of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR), and during the Third Polish Republic, he served as prime minister, speaker of the Sejm, minister of the Interior and Administration, and chairman of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).
