Betty Bowman (2025 Expansion to the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway)
If you have ever wanted to drive a road that was closed for years while the landscape took over, and then reopened to the public, you should give Betty Bowman a try. This road is part of the 2025 expansion to the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway (DBBB). The entry may lead you to believe it will be a quick and easy drive, but it has so many twists, turns, rocks, ruts, waterfalls, trees, and other things that can slow you down, you will find yourself creeping along in many places. Make sure you have your map downloaded. Not only will you find only sporadic cell signal, there are a handful of roads that diverge from the trail, and sometimes the trail doesn't look like much of a trail at all! And the forest has a tendency to try to retake this trail, especially after heavy rainstorms, so you may also want your chain saw and plenty of power for that saw handy. This video also includes a fun little loop called Brandenburg Road, also part of the expansion to the DBBB.
