I have come across comments on facebook groups and owners forums for mercedes sprinter vans that say the oil pressure control solenoid on vans fitted with the mercedes om651 diesel engine can fail causing catastrophic engine failure due to loss of oil pressure. Here is the fix for that issue, it is a genuine Mercedes supplied part thats fairly easy to fit and only costs around £20 in the UK.
